Authentic Family Engagement: A Model for Schools and Districts

Missy Martin

Missy Martin has spent her entire career working with families, 15 of those were in the role of family educator, providing direct supports to families such as home visitation where she centered her work on building relationships with families. Additionally, Missy has studied the work of Dr. Karen Mapp and Dr. Steven Constantino and participated in the Constantino Leadership Cohort and Harvard University Family Engagement Coursework. She has led book studies and professional learning to build capacity for the district's family liaison team.

Jessica Buzhardt

Jessica understands the importance of families as partners in their child's education. As a classroom teacher, she saw firsthand the difference families make in the success of their child's education. As the Title I coordinator, she prioritizes funding for family engagement activities and professional development. She has studied the work of Dr. Karen Mapp and Dr. Steven Constantino and participated in the Constantino Leadership Cohort. She has also participated in book studies and professional learning to build capacity for the district's family liaison team and Title I principals.
