Participants will explore ways to be intentional in helping learners from diverse cultural backgrounds gather, process, store, and retrieve/apply academic content. The 6 Ms of Culturally Responsive Instruction© (meaning, models, monitoring with feedback, the mouth, music, and movement) will provide a framework to design and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction that promotes high levels of learning for all students.

Mary Conage

Dr. Conage earned her Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Florida in 2014, with culturally responsive instruction as the focus of her dissertation work. In addition to designing and delivering professional development workshops for educators, she provides consulting services for equity-focused lesson planning, pedagogy, and instructional leadership.
Felita Grant

Dr. Grant leads the district's strategic plan project to effectively address the academic and social-emotional needs of students experiencing poverty. In her role as Title I Director, she works collaboratively with colleagues in various departments to facilitate strategic allocation of Title I funds for curriculum materials, professional development, and other resources that support culturally responsive instruction.
