ParentCamp: Family-School-Community Integration to Create the Ideal Education Ecosystem
What schools and families have learned through the COVID19 crisis is that relationships with families are critical for student learning and success. If teachers or school staff had not already built strong relationships with their families and communities, they learned that they needed to quickly. Many schools and districts mistook communication to families as connecting with families and the learning fell short. So how can schools genuinely connect with families? It starts with processes and a model which values everyone, no matter their level of education or background. The (Virtual) ParentCamp model is based on family-school-community integration. The ParentCamp model which incorporates all Process Conditions as detailed in the Dual Capacity Building Framework 2.0, creates an environment where relationships are built and participants in sessions move from connect to strengthen to collaborate over a series of weeks to tackle the hard issues in our schools and communities.
