Schools and educators are already focused on caring for students’ well-being, but how can we bridge the gap between home and school? How do we create meaningful partnerships with families to meet their students' pressing social-emotional needs? This workshop incorporates key concepts from the latest research on compassion, resilience, mental health, and brain-based parenting strategies. It’s research-based but fun, simple, and interactive! We will highlight content from Calm and Kind Family, a Parent workshop series designed to equip families with: Tools for increasing emotional regulation Practices for building positive mental health practices in the home, including self-compassion and self-care A framework to find the "why" behind & address misbehavior Calming Strategies for every age and stage

As an adoptive mother and non-profit founder, Whitney lives in both worlds of parent and professional. Her 15 years of experience in the foster care and adoption field as a social worker and non-profit leader, plus her personal journey of fostering / adoption, gives her a unique perspective to work with both parents and professionals. Her passion is to help professionals and educators be better equipped to serve children experiencing the adverse effects of trauma.
Daniel is the Executive Director of Family Leadership. He is the author of Calm and Kind Family, which focuses on compassion, connection, and brain-based correction and connection strategies for parents and kids. He is also a National Trainer and Conference presenter.
