The Walking Classroom – Screen-Free, Active Learning

The Walking Classroom is an innovative, award-winning, screen-free educational program used in classrooms, out-of-school time programs, and with remote/hybrid learning at home. Students listen to kid-friendly educational podcasts while they walk. The podcasts are standards-aligned and are geared primarily towards students in grades 3 - 8. Research indicates there is a link between exercise and cognitive function and The Walking Classroom capitalizes on that link. Participants in this workshop will learn more about The Walking Classroom, how to implement the program in various settings, the resources that support the program, and how to try the program for free. We will also discuss the research that has been conducted on The Walking Classroom program which affirms its effectiveness as an engaging learning tool and a means of improving health literacy. Attendees will have a chance to go for a walk while listening to a podcast. They will Walk, Listen and Learn!
