With the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency this past April, children will no longer be re-enrolled automatically in the Medicaid or Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). More than half of all school children rely on Medicaid or CHIP. It is essential that parents know they must update their child’s information with their local health department as a necessary step to renew their child’s coverage.
Schools and school leaders can play a big role in helping children stay healthy so they can focus on their learning. Department of Education invites you to a special briefing Tuesday, September 19 at 2:30pm from U.S. Department of Education staff on the topic of Medicaid renewal. This briefing will include information on the renewal process, tools for schools and parents, and discussion of other supports the Department of Education can provide to the education community.
