Leadership for Equity-based Multi-Tiered Systems of Support in High-Need Schools
When administrators develop their leadership capacities with an understanding of student variation, their efforts give rise to equitable learning environments to meet all types of learning needs. Such environments support each student and welcome them into a system of teaching and learning that is fluid, responsive, dynamic, alive, and uses all available resources to meet student needs. Workshop participants will learn about SWIFT Education Center’s federally funded partnerships with five states to create equitable educational environments in high-need schools by installing equity-based MTSS; and about a state-funded partnership to scale up MTSS throughout California. Presenters will share open source tools, implementation examples, and research associated with these transformative partnerships. This workshop is intended for Building, District, and State leaders in contexts where MTSS is now or may in the future be used to effectively address the needs of diverse student populations.
