MINDSET, RESILIENCY AND GRIT: 3 Keys to Unleashing to Potential of Under-Resourced Youth
The mindset of youth plays a huge role in their motivation, effort, resiliency and ultimately achievement. Many kids inaccurately believe that the brain can’t change and intelligence is set in stone from birth. They believe that intelligence alone equals success and if they struggle with a concept it means they aren't smart. The burden of these inaccurate beliefs leads to apathy, decreased resiliency and decreased self-confidence in their abilities to be academically successful. Huge breakthroughs in neuroscience have provided valuable information regarding the brain, its ability to change as well as the power of thought and beliefs on one’s resiliency, grit and motivation toward a goal. This session will provide key points from Mindset, Resiliency and Grit research as well as powerful, proven tools to help reframe the view that many under-resourced youth have about their abilities, failure, struggles and how to fight through with grit and resiliency in huge supply.
