Saturday February 2, 2019
10:30 - 11:30 AM
Grand Ballroom 2501 B

This session will outline and explore the factors that influence federal policymaking both at federal agencies and in Congress.  These factors include pressure from the White House and lawmakers on both sides of the aisle as well as advocacy groups, interest groups, donors, and the average voter.  The session will also discuss the differences between ideologically-based policymaking and those laws, regulations, or other policies which come as a reaction to current events.  Finally, the session will discuss what changes might be anticipated in these pressures and influences as a result of the November 2018 election.
