Paradigm, Partnerships, Professional Growth, and Patience… Arts Integration as a whole-school approach to school improvement has the potential for developing the “next generation of innovative, socially conscious citizens” (Wolff, Best, & Bailey, 2018); improving student outcomes; enriching the learning environment; providing students with valuable life skills; building thinking skills; developing well-rounded individuals; and supporting civic skills necessary to contribute as a member of a diverse community! This interactive session will take you on a journey with the Janet Kahn School of Integrated Arts in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to explore how they designed, are implementing, and are preparing to sustain this transformative model of instruction that engages students in a “creative process which connects an art form and another subject area and meets evolving objectives in both” (Silverstein & Laine, 2010).
