Lyn Day has served as the Pilot of one of the selected Mercury 7 Redesign schools beginning in 2017. She is the Instructional Coach at Meadowlark Elementary. She helped facilitate the redesign process, including organizing the staff for research and implementation. She is leading the way through supporting the staff as they implement the changes needed for our students.

Gricelda Estrada has been a member of the Redesign Leadership Team at Meadowlark Elementary this past year while also serving as an ELL Teacher. She lead the research on family engagement and has been/will be an integral part of implementing the new redesign plan.

Shawna Evans has lead the way in establishing Meadowlark Elementary as one of the selected Mercury 7 Redesign schools. Shawna has transformed her role as a school leader into facilitating a teacher-led redesign initiative.

Tamra L. Mitchell is the Elementary Redesign Specialist for the Kansas State Department of Education. Tamra has been a Kansas educator and leader for 29 years. While working for the KSDE, she has led the Kansas Learning Network to provide support to Priority and Focus schools and has led the statewide Kindergarten Readiness initiative. Now, as Redesign Specialist, she works to build a system to support elementary schools as they redesign teaching and learning to provide more personalized experiences to students in a project-based or problem-based integration of core curriculum. Tamra has a Baccalaureate degree in Elementary Education from Wichita State University, a Master’s Degree in Curriculum Leadership from Emporia State University. She is pursuing a Doctorate’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Kansas State University.
