Leveraging Leadership to Develop Dual and Tribal Language Programs

Saturday February 10, 2024
10:00 - 11:30 AM
E141-E144

Dual language is one of the few program models that has proven successful in closing opportunity gaps for English learners and Native American students. Building on lessons learned from over 135 schools in Washington state, we will share the research and benefits of dual language and tribal language revitalization programs, provide a clear process that school, district, and state leaders can use to develop programs, and highlight critical leadership moves to implement these programs effectively. The session will feature opportunities to experience learning in two languages and to interact with colleagues to begin planning your own dual language program that builds on the rich diversity of your students and families. Imagine the possibilities you can create for English learners and Native American students who remain furthest from educational justice!
