U.S. Department of Education: School Improvement Requirements in the ESEA

Wednesday February 19, 2025
10:15 - 11:15 AM
Room 18BCD

The Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA) requires each State to establish a methodology for identifying schools for support and improvement, based on statewide data. These school identifications result in targeted support and resources, including ESEA section 1003 school improvement funds. The ESEA empowers State and local decision-makers to refine their own systems for evidence-based support and improvement that are responsive to the particular needs of schools.

This session is designed to support State educational agencies (SEAs), local educational agencies (LEAs), and schools as they implement school improvement requirements. The session will include examples and best practices from States.
