Be Prepared: Getting Ready for an Audit under the UGG

This presentation will cover audit preparation and auditing under the Uniform Grants Guidance (UGG). The UGG incorporates OMB Circular A-133 which was previously the audit guide for single audits. The new guidelines on audits in the UGG reflect many of the general principles of the UGG such as simplification, risk assessment and cooperative audit resolution. This session will demonstrate effective audit preparation as well as the details where the UGG changes audit practice to reflect these new themes. It will provide practical tips on preparation as well as more technical details on audit practice.

Leigh Manasevit

Leigh M. Manasevit has practiced in the field of education law since 1974 beginning as a trial attorney in the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. As a founding partner of Brustein & Manasevit, Mr. Manasevit established a law practice that addresses the legal issues involving educational institutions public, private, elementary and secondary, or postsecondary. Mr. Manasevit has worked extensively on the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) and the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). He has advised and trained schools, districts, states, and private providers on implementation of ESSA. Mr. Manasevit is a member of the California Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, the Bar of the United States Supreme Court, and several bars of the United States Court of Appeals.
