Camping Out: Successful Intervention Plans for “At-Risk” Students

Presenters will guide participants through the steps for setting up and conducing a “camp” style intervention program using data and research-based strategies to address the five essential elements of reading instruction. Participants will take a virtual tour of the Literacy Camp as presenters narrate while sharing photographs and video of the process. Participants will gain skills to train tutors/teachers for preparing for the intervention sessions. Presenters will share strategies, techniques, and resources for setting up the literacy camp. They will also hear success stories from teachers and students about the effectiveness of the program. The presenters will also share suggestions for building on the rotation or camp method to include math as well.
