CANCELLED Getting Ready: How WA State is Building a System to Serve Children & Youth in Foster Care
THIS SESSION HAS BEEN CANCELLED
The newly enacted Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires, for the first time, education agencies to ensure school stability and immediate enrollment protections for all children and youth in foster care. ESSA requires assurances in state and local plans that foster collaboration between education and child welfare agencies, aid in the development and implementation of local transportation plans, establish reciprocal points of contact, and require the reporting of disaggregated data regarding academic outcomes of children and youth in care. Participants will learn about these important new rules and requirements and how to develop strategies to improve implementation and practice.
