Moving with Math® RTI Solutions: Proven Successful by Jersey City Public Schools, NJ

Students attending the 38 Title I Schools of Jersey City Public Schools are increasing their math achievement and finding success in math everyday using the Moving with Math® RTI Solution! Discover how this urban school system partnered with Math Teachers Press Inc. to support their students, teachers, and administrators in implementing a successful RTI program. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss with Jersey City their RTI story including why they selected the program, collaboration & coordination that occurred initially & continues today, and data on how their schools have improved and math achievement has increased. Participants will experience the power of the Moving with Math® research-based assessment and instructional resources that have proven successful in raising math achievement for students in multiple tiered systems of support. Every lesson employs the Concrete-Representational-Abstract (CRA) pedagogy. Participants will engage in hands-on lessons and games.

Sean Healy

Sean Healy is supports the RTI program at all 38 Title 1 Schools in Jersey City Public Schools, New Jersey. Officially titled, District Lead Teacher of the RISE Program, he works closely with building level administrators to ensure success.
Amy Johnson

Amy Johnson has traveled the US training educators on how to reach our struggling learners through the use of research-based strategies. She has presented at many national conferences on the importance of differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all students.
Caryl Pierson

Caryl Pierson, a secondary math teacher of students with a wide range of math backgrounds and language deficiencies, was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of MN. She wrote the Minneapolis Public Schools' Benchmark Tests that identified the most discriminating objectives for struggling students and developed strategies to meet their needs.
