Family Engagement: Promising Practices for Bringing the Framework to Life

Session leaders will introduce promising practices linked to the Department of Education's Dual-Capacity Building Framework for Family-School Partnerships. These will include practices for creating welcoming, inviting cultures as well as those that are linked to student learning and other positive outcomes. The Department will also share resources and announcements for moving family & community engagement forward in the coming year.

Samantha Cohen

Samantha is a passionate believer in the promise and potential of American education. She brings 13 years of education experience in the classroom, non-profits, district, and charter worlds. She has served in management & leadership positions at Teach For America, MD public schools, & UP Education.
Libby Doggett

Libby brings to the Office of Early Learning a lifetime of early learning experience from her work in schools, Head Start and child care, serving both children with and without disabilities.  Doggett holds a doctorate from the University of Texas in early childhood special education.
Laura Wilson Phelan

Laura brings over 15 years of experience in non-profit, government and advocacy work to Flamboyan, at both the grassroots and management levels. Her experience in the education field includes Teach for America, the Peace Corps, Teach for All, and civic organizations.
