#Engage #Diversity: Engaging Culturally Diverse Families with Innovative Programming

Friday January 29, 2016
1:00 - 2:00 PM
Room 361

Round Rock ISD serves families that speak nearly 80 different languages. This workshop will share the journey Round Rock ISD has taken to build a parent program model that actively engages parents of English Language Learners. Through intentional learning opportunities, parents gain both English language proficiency and the opportunity to build meaningful partnerships within their school community. As relationships grow, a culture of trust evolves, giving educators the opportunity to equip parents with the tools needed to be meaningful partners in their child’s education. Through a variety of classes in English, Spanish and Chinese, using culturally relevant and engaging teaching methods, RRISD Parent Programs is equipping parents for student success and celebrating our rich cultural capital in a way that creates parent leaders on our campuses and in our district.
