Sophia Chin immigrated to America from Hong Kong in 1979 with her family and is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin. She began her career in education in 2000 as a preschool teacher. Since 2005 she has worked as the Children's Ministry Director in a multi-cultural church and has worked closely with hundreds of immigrant families. In August 2014, Chin accepted a position as a Parent/Community Specialist at Round Rock ISD where she provides leadership, coordination and assistance to programs and activities that promote family involvement and parent education which includes but not limited to early literacy to parents with preschoolers.

Jackie has been a Parent / Community Specialist serving Round Rock ISD since 2014. Prior to that, she gained valuable expertise on cultural diversity among the ELL school community as a Community Organizer in IL. As a second-generation Asian American, Jackie has firsthand experience related to growing up with ELL parents.

Sibyl grew up in the US as an immigrant with little English skills. Her personal experience of overcoming language, cultural and socio-economic barriers have contributed to her desire to help others in similar situations. In her current role as Parent/Community Specialists in Title I schools, she is able to be that bridge between the home and school for many families. She is passionate about connecting parents with the school, with resources and with opportunities to increase parental engagement in their children's education.
