Family Science Nights: A School District & Museum Partnership

Thursday January 28, 2016
12:45 - 1:45 PM
Room 372

Since 2008, Explora (a science center and children's museum) and the Albuquerque Public Schools' Title I Department have partnered on Family Science Nights when Explora stays open to welcome hundreds of families from local Title I elementary schools. This Title I family science night program strengthens the capacities of schools to build and implement innovative plans of action that draw upon educational and community resources and closes the achievement gap. These evenings are designed to increase family engagement with learning, improve attitudes toward learning and science, and increase awareness of scientific phenomena and processes. This session is intended for those attendees interested in forming or expanding such a program in their own community.
