Address the Mess-Organization Starts Before USDE Selects Your District for ESSA Monitoring

One day you get an email from the US Department of Education with notice of your district's selection for a USDE Monitoring Review. What do you do? Where do you start? This session will provide practical and user-friendly strategies to help organize, coordinate, and manage the requests for documentation and responses: Title I, A (needs assessment, parent engagement policy, school/parent compact, annual Title I meeting, fiscal internal controls, building capacity, monitoring strategies, stakeholder input, etc.) and Title III (parent engagement, student identification, parent notification, supplement not supplant, etc.). This interactive session will review a sample USDE self-assessment monitoring template, analyze and discuss USDE's requests for information, identify example responses, how to plan and coordinate across the to collect quality documentation, clarify what type of response is needed, and establish tight deadlines to complete the submission process before the deadline.
