Federal Update: News from Washington

This session will help describe the landscape around federal education policy, covering all three branches of government. Attendees will learn about Congressional actions that could impact their programs, including appropriations and policy legislation. The session will also cover administrative rulemaking and guidance, primarily focusing on Title I but touching on other wide-ranging policies that impact K-12 programs. Finally, the session will discuss summer 2023 Supreme Court decisions (as well as upcoming cases) that will impact the education landscape in the coming years.

Julia Martin is Director of Policy and Government Affairs at the Bruman Group (formerly Brustein & Manasevit), where she has monitored Congressional, regulatory, and court action for more than a decade. She joined the Firm in January of 2011, and had previously worked in Congress for both the Committee on Education and Labor and a member of Congress.
