The Magic of Family Engagement

Wednesday January 30, 2019
3:30 - 4:30 PM
Grand Ballroom 2501 C

Most agree the effort needed to engage families in authentic and sustainable ways is daunting. If only we could wave a magic wand and have families appear. This innovative approach developed under Michigan Department of Education funding streams from U.S. Department of Education and then SAMSHA addresses first the readiness of providers using a brief Family Engagement Perception Instrument (FEPI); then follows with the Critical Components for addressing the illusions we often possess that inhibit genuine partnerships with families. Participants will leave with an innovative framework to integrate into the culture of their buildings. This will include tips, tools and activities that will assist in the integration.
