Using a Systems-based Approach to Create a Culture of Coaching
Are your instructional coaches impacting teacher performance resulting in improved student achievement on a system wide level? In Fulton County, the answer was no. While there was evidence of success in some schools, it was not pervasive. There was not a unified vision of the role of the coach. What is the exact role of an instructional coach? How do we select, support, and develop them? How can a large system provide answers to these questions? In this session, you will learn how a large urban school district is responding to these questions by leveraging resources through collaboration amongst multiple district departments to change the answer to yes. The result was the creation of a comprehensive framework resulting in an emerging unified vision and culture for coaching in all schools.
