Shoua Vang is the Financial Manager for the State of Michigan, Department of Education (MDE), Office of Educational Supports, Financial Unit. Shoua ensures that approximately one billion dollars of state and federal grant funds are effectively administered according to state and federal laws, statutes, and regulations. She works collaboratively with other units such as the Special Populations Unit, which handles populations of students such as English learners, immigrant, migratory, homeless, etc., and the Regional Unit which is responsible for direct LEA and PSA support in order to implement strategic directives for improving funding availability in support of student achievement throughout the state of Michigan. Shoua’s team provides LEAs and PSAs the necessary technical assistance, support, and guidance to assist with planning and budgeting their state and federal funds to ensure effective programming and operational uses, as well as to support the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child Model at MDE. Shoua earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Michigan State University and has over eight years of professional financial accounting experience. Shoua enjoys music, fishing, gardening, and spending time with family. She currently resides in DeWitt, Michigan with her husband and their dog.
