The Graduation Effect: Engaging Communities to Improve Grad Rates in Title I Schools

Wednesday February 22, 2017
1:00 - 2:30 PM
Room 201

The national high school graduation rate is at an all-time high—81% according to the Department of Education. Yet, for many students of color, particularly those with special needs or from low-income families (many of whom attend Title I schools), this number has yet to reach the national goal of 90%. This has significant, measurable economic and societal impacts. Join us for a conversation about economic impact data and ways to engage parents, students, educators, community members and policy makers in collaborative efforts and collective action aimed at ensuring all students graduate from high school ready for college, career and life. Utilizing the Alliance for Excellent Education’s Graduation Effect toolkit, we will examine efforts taking place at the local, state and national levels and ways in which we all can play an active role in increasing the number of traditionally underserved students who successfully graduate from high school prepared for college and career.
