Friday January 29, 2016
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Room 351

Finally, a strengths-based Framework that enables schools and districts to use their local data and leadership to embrace sustainable change through a focus on individual schools, teachers, students, families, and communities. SWIFT (School Wide Integrated Framework for Transformation) enables the full engagement of the system to support teaching and learning in the general education classroom for all students. In the past, reform, initiatives, and school change have used a deficit mentality from which to operate. This approach has not proven successful, perhaps because people are not motivated to improve using a deficit mentality. In contrast, SWIFT uses a strengths-based, school-centered approach to improving teaching and learning and does this by engaging all facets of the education system.
