Hassaan joined ERS in 2022 and has worked on projects related to district finances, school design, and long-term financial sustainability. Hassaan has recently been supporting district leaders in Albuquerque Public Schools on redesigning their school funding model. He previously worked with a number school districts who were part of ERS’ national ESSER strategy network, a community of district leaders focused on recovery and redesign for impact, equity, and sustainability. He has also provided implementation and continuous improvement support to districts making strategic investments in high-dosage tutoring and after school initiatives. Prior to joining ERS, Hassaan taught high school math in his hometown of San Jose, CA. After four years of teaching and seeing his mentees through to graduation, Hassaan attended the Harvard Kennedy School. While in graduate school, Hassaan worked at the U.S. Department of Education on analyzing the department’s priorities around discretionary grant programs, and was also a fellow in the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education in Washington D.C. where he designed a framework for assessing out of school time programs. Outside of ERS, Hassaan leads a technology non-profit creating digital health systems for low-resource settings. Hassaan enjoys biking around Boston, developing his photography skills, and spending time with friends and family.
